Bowling : Sri Lanka
Thanks a lot for following our coverage. We will be back on Sunday for the third ODI.
Mahela Jayawardena says that his team did not put enough runs on the board. "We had to make sure that we did not lose too many wickets early in the innings. But the Indian bowlers bowled in good areas. Dambulla track has a bit of moisture and allows good carry and bounce." We knew we could win by picking quick wickets but Dhoni and Badrinath batted brilliantly."
MS Dhoni "We were under pressure after losing Gambhir and opting to bowl first turned to be a blessing in disguise. We did not want to pressurize anyone so we did not have any team meetings too. We allow our batsmen to plan their innings. Badrinath deserves the credit he played very well handling Murali and Mendis very well."
Man of the Match - Zaheer Khan "I am the strike bowler and my responsibility is to pick wickets. I was only looking to bowl on good areas and leaving the rest to the wicket. All the bowlers did the job and put pressure on their batters."
The low scoring games are never short on drama and the second ODI too has lived up to the reputation. Two quick wickets in the first five overs and two towards the fag end of India's chase did give some anxious moments. A calm and composed partnership of 60 runs between skipper Dhoni and Badrinath ensured that India reached within the touching distance of Sri Lanka's total. With Dhoni's departure, Jayawardena played his last trick by bringing back Mendis into the attack. Obliging his skipper, the mystery bowler removed Harbhajan Singh to send the Indian dressing room in a tizzy. However, Badrinath (27 not out) on his debut showed nerves of steel, staying unbeaten and hitting the winning stroke. The foundation of this victory was laid by the bowlers and the Indian batsmen although shaky at times complimented well to register a victory and level the series 1-1. Yet again India showed that they can bounce back after being beaten in the first game.

Even before the first ODI of the five match series began, India were hit by the news of Sehwag injuring himself which forced them to open with young Virat Kohli. Now before the start of the second ODI, it's cleared that the Delhi dasher will not take part in the tournament, forcing the Indian think-tank to alter the batting line-up that is already short on experience. The young Indian ODI team was expected to put a better fight after the Test series debacle but the drubbing did not end. An eight-wicket loss in the opening game has only prolonged the agony that Kirsten's Co. is going through at the moment in Sri Lanka. It has been more than 45 days since the Indian batsmen first encountered Mendis in the Asia Cup but the mystery still bags a solution. The unorthodox spinner foxed Yuvraj Singh and also accounted for Dhoni's wicket in the first game, giving signs that he still happens to be the influencing factor and a constant cause of worry. "Even if you pick him, by the time you realise what ball it is, it gets really late to play a big shot. You can see a thousand videos but it doesn't matter until you go out there and play him off the track from 20 yards," Dhoni admitted. With everything going according to the plan, the hosts could not have hoped for a better script and they start the second ODI as favourites. However, the Lankan skipper is well focussed and has already warned his team against complacency. "They (India) have a very good side and probably will also play for pride as well. They will definitely come back strongly. They have a lot of talented individual players who can just change the match for them. We need to make sure that we play the same brand of cricket that we played yesterday (Monday), said Jayawardena. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain courageous of young Team India will have to lead from the front. Dhoni's method of experimenting has yielded good results in the past and those performances need to come to the fore yet again. The time is running out for team India but with talented youngsters an inspirational leader, one can surely hope for a revival.

Bowling :
India
A devastating opening spell by Zaheer Khan has resulted in Sri Lanka being bundled out for for a paltry 142. Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, India have dished out the same treatment they received in the opening ODI. There was a considerable bounce initially on the well rolled Dambulla wicket and Zaheer struck in only his first over to dismiss Sangakkara (2)who opened the innings with Jayasuriya. Next to go was the Lankan skipper Jayawardena (2) signaling towards an early collapse as the middle order lacks experience. The repair work required long partnerships but that was not to be as Praveen Kumar struck from the other end. The visitors were in a deep trouble after losing Jayasuriya (13) in the 14th over. The first five batsman could only contribute 17 runs. A late partnership of 74 runs for the seventh wicket between Thushara and Kulasekara helped Lanka reach cross 100. The new ball bowlers were clearly the stars of the day with Zaheer picking 4-21 and Praveen Kumar claiming three for 34.

Couple of changes in the Indian side - Badrinath will finally make his long awaited ODI debut in place of injured Gautam Gambhir and Praveen Kumar replaces Pragyan Ojha.
Dilhara Fernando comes in place for Chaminda Vaas. The left-armer needed just 1 wicket to claim 400 ODI wickets.
Dhoni called heads and he is right. This time he opts to bowl first. It's more of a forced decision as we have lost Gambhir for this game. So we will bowl first. Irfan will open. "We don't have a specialist opener," said Dhoni.
The pitch is hard and well rolled. Also it is lot drier. Quick bowlers might get some early purchase.
Hello and welcome to our coverage of the 2nd ODI. Injury concerns continue to plague India. First it was in form Sehag who suffered an ankle injury in the first game and now it's his other dashing and equally important partner Gambhir who is ruled out of the match due to a stiff neck. Huge blow for India as they don't have any specialist opener in the side. The visitors opened with young Virat in his debut match and the irony is he now becomes the senior opening member in only his second game as India will have to squeeze a makeshift opener to partner him.
